How Trending is chosen
Each story gets a score from evidence we can verify: how recently it was published, how many independent news organisations our research found reporting it, whether it passed our editorial quality checks, its length and depth, and whether it has artwork. A human editor can pin or hide a story. We never use our own pageview counts, which at this stage are too small to mean anything and are easy to inflate, and we do not write headlines to chase clicks.
