Terms

Last updated: 26 July 2026. These Terms are being finalized as a small number of legal-entity details are confirmed; the sections below describe how Herald Express actually operates today.

1. Acceptance of these terms

By accessing or using herald.express (“Herald Express”, “we”, “us”), you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

2. Description of Herald Express

Herald Express is an AI-powered, evidence-first news publication that produces articles, analysis, and commentary using a combination of automated AI-assisted research, drafting, and rewriting, and editorial oversight.

3. AI-generated and AI-assisted content

Many articles on Herald Express are drafted or rewritten with the assistance of third-party AI language-model providers, and featured images are generated using third-party AI image-generation providers. Herald Express applies editorial guardrails intended to keep AI-assisted content evidence-based and attributable, but content produced this way may still occasionally contain errors — see our Corrections page and AI Transparency page for more detail on how this works and how to report an issue.

4. Editorial limitations

Herald Express strives for accuracy, attribution, and fairness, but no news publication — AI-assisted or otherwise — can guarantee that every article is complete or error-free at every moment. See our Editorial Code and Source Policy for the standards we apply.

5. Informational purpose

Content on Herald Express is provided for general informational purposes only.

6. No legal advice

Nothing on Herald Express constitutes legal advice. Consult a qualified professional for advice about your specific situation.

7. No medical advice

Nothing on Herald Express constitutes medical advice. Consult a qualified healthcare provider for medical concerns.

8. No financial or investment advice

Nothing on Herald Express constitutes financial, investment, or trading advice. Consult a qualified professional before making financial decisions.

9. Accuracy and availability

We aim to keep Herald Express accurate and available, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access, and we do not guarantee that all content is free of errors at all times.

10. Corrections and updates

We accept and act on correction requests submitted through our Corrections page, in line with our Editorial Code.

11. Intellectual property

Unless otherwise indicated, the text, design, and original visual content on Herald Express are owned by or licensed to Herald Express and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. Third-party source material referenced or quoted in our articles remains the property of its respective owners, used under applicable attribution, fair-use, or fair-dealing principles.

12. Permitted personal use

You may view, read, and share links to Herald Express content for personal, non-commercial use. Reproducing substantial portions of our articles elsewhere without permission is not permitted.

13. Prohibited scraping and automated misuse

Automated bulk scraping, crawling, or extraction of Herald Express content outside of standard, well-behaved search-engine indexing is not permitted without our prior written consent.

14. Prohibited interference

You may not attempt to interfere with, disrupt, or gain unauthorized access to Herald Express’s systems, including its content, accounts, or underlying infrastructure.

15. User accounts

Public self-registration for general reader accounts is currently disabled. Contributor accounts (signup, login, dashboard, and profile) are available to approved contributors and are subject to these Terms and any additional Contributor Terms and Contributor Guidelines published on this site.

16. User submissions

If you submit content to us (through the Contact form, Corrections form, contributor tools, or press-release tool), you confirm that you have the right to submit it and that it does not violate any law or third party’s rights.

17. Contributor submissions

Contributor submissions are additionally governed by our published Contributor Terms, Contributor Guidelines, Editorial Standards, and Conflict of Interest Policy.

18. Press-release submissions

Press releases submitted through our Submit Press Release tool must be accurate, lawful, and clearly identified as third-party promotional or announcement content where published.

19. Ownership and licence of submitted material

By submitting content to Herald Express (comments, contributor work, press releases, or correction reports), you grant Herald Express a non-exclusive licence to use, edit, and publish that content on the site for the purpose for which it was submitted, without transferring your underlying ownership of it unless separately agreed in writing (for example, in a contributor agreement).

20. Prohibited defamatory or unlawful submissions

You may not submit content that is defamatory, unlawful, infringing, harassing, or otherwise violates the rights of others.

21. Third-party links

Herald Express articles link to third-party sources and websites. We are not responsible for the content, accuracy, or practices of external sites we link to.

22. Advertising and sponsored content

Herald Express displays advertising through Google AdSense. Any sponsored content or affiliate links used on Herald Express, now or in the future, will be clearly labelled as such.

23. Subscription features

Herald Express has subscription-plan infrastructure available (see our Plans page). Specific subscription terms, pricing, and payment handling will be published here once these features are active for the public.

24. Service availability

We do not guarantee that Herald Express will be available at all times or free from interruptions, delays, or errors.

25. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate access to any account (including contributor accounts) that violates these Terms or our published editorial policies.

26. Disclaimer of warranties

Herald Express is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law.

27. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Herald Express and its operator shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the site.

28. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify Herald Express against claims arising from your breach of these Terms or your unlawful use of the site, to the extent permitted by applicable law.

29. Restricted internal editorial tool

Herald Express operates a restricted internal tool at /mreditor/ for use only by authorised Herald Express editors. It is not available to the public, and any attempt to access it without authorisation is prohibited under section 14 (Prohibited interference) above. Authorised users of this tool are responsible for keeping their account credentials secure and for the accuracy and lawfulness of the source material, notes, and directions they submit through it. Herald Express’s editors remain responsible for reviewing and approving any article before it is published, and Herald Express may correct, revise, or remove any resulting content in line with our Editorial Code and Corrections process. As with the rest of Herald Express’s AI-assisted workflow described in section 3, AI tools used within this system may occasionally err and are not a substitute for human editorial judgement.

30. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by an updated “Last updated” date at the top of this page.

31. Governing law

The governing law and jurisdiction for these Terms will be published here once confirmed.

32. Contact

Questions about these Terms can be sent through our Contact page.
