HYDERABAD — Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy unfurled the national flag at the Public Gardens on Thursday to mark “Praja Palana Dinotsavam,” commemorating the anniversary of the integration of the former Hyderabad State into the Indian Union.
Speaking at the ceremony, Reddy stated that the hopes and aspirations of the public would serve as the benchmark for all future government decisions. He highlighted the historical significance of the day, noting that the end of the Nizam’s rule paved the way for Telangana’s transition from a monarchy to democratic self-governance focused on public self-respect.
Outlining his administration’s performance since taking office in December 2023, the Chief Minister noted that Telangana’s per capita income stands at ₹4.18 lakh, which is 91% higher than the national average. Reddy stated that the government’s primary goal remains ensuring that economic progress is reflected in the tangible lives of citizens rather than strictly in statistical metrics.
In the agricultural sector, Reddy reported that the state has spent ₹1.72 lakh crore on agriculture and farmer welfare over the past 32 months. This includes a crop loan waiver program covering loans up to ₹2 lakh, which released ₹20,616 crore and relieved 25.35 lakh farmers of debt burdens.
The Chief Minister also detailed several administrative, developmental, and infrastructure measures:
– Land Governance and Water Rights: The state launched the Bhu Bharati Act alongside Bhudhaar and AI-based Bhu Mitra services. Reddy affirmed that the state is actively pursuing legal avenues to secure its share of Krishna River water, while construction on major irrigation initiatives—including the Palamuru-Rangareddy project and the Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC)—continues at a rapid pace.
– Health and Education: Describing education and healthcare as the “two eyes” of the administration, Reddy cited steps to invite international universities to establish campuses in the state. Health initiatives include the expansion of the Rajiv Aarogya Sri scheme and the provision of ₹2,526 crore in assistance to 5.19 lakh beneficiaries via the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF).
– Urban Development and Infrastructure: The state has submitted proposals to the Central government regarding the expansion of the Hyderabad Metro Rail and local airport projects. Additionally, development is underway for a planned “Future City,” set to house dedicated hubs including the Young India Skills University, an AI City, a Life Sciences Hub, an EV Park, a Health City, and an Education City.
Reddy concluded by stating that Telangana is positioning its administration to compete not only with neighboring states, but on a global scale.
