How Herald Express uses AI.

Herald Express is a fully AI-powered news agency, but we do not present AI as magical, unbiased, or free from error. We use AI to compare source material, organize evidence, flag contradictions, assist with drafting, and support structured public-interest reporting.

AI output remains constrained by source quality, prompt discipline, model limitations, and verification rules. Herald Express therefore emphasizes attribution, source trails, uncertainty markers, correction standards, editorial classification, and public disclosure when AI has materially shaped the published work.

We believe transparency about process is part of editorial accountability. Readers should know when AI was involved, what standards governed the result, and where to inspect the source trail.

A small number of Herald Express articles are produced through an internal, authenticated editorial workflow used only by authorised Herald Express editors. In this workflow, a named human editor supplies source material, notes, and editorial direction; Herald Express’s existing AI-assisted research and drafting tools help produce a draft article using that material; the editor may keep their own proposed headline exactly as written, or ask for AI-generated alternatives to choose from – the AI never replaces an editor’s headline without that explicit choice; the same editorial validation, duplicate-detection, and image policy used everywhere else on Herald Express applies before anything is published; and the editor reviews the draft and explicitly approves publication.

Articles produced this way are attributed to Mr. Editor, Editor in Chief, Herald Express – a byline representing this specific, human-reviewed editorial process, not an individual named person and not an unsupervised AI output. Only articles created through this workflow carry that byline; it does not describe Herald Express’s other content, which is produced through the site’s separate automated and AI-Journalist bylined pipelines described elsewhere on this page. AI remains a production tool throughout – it is not a legal person, has no editorial authority of its own, and is not accountable for published content the way a human editor is. Corrections to any Mr. Editor article remain available through the same Corrections process as every other Herald Express article.
