Police in Manipur’s Jiribam district have arrested a couple in connection with the murder of a 38-year-old woman whose dismembered remains were discovered inside a suitcase aboard a Delhi-bound train, authorities said Sunday.
The victim was killed in Tamil Nadu’s Guduvanchery area, according to police. Her remains were found approximately one month before the arrests, officials stated.
Officers did not immediately disclose details regarding the relationship between the accused and the victim, nor did they specify what led investigators to identify the suspects in Manipur’s Jiribam district.
The case drew attention due to the circumstances of the discovery, with authorities piecing together evidence to trace the individuals responsible for the killing before their flight to the northeastern state.
Police have indicated that further details will be released as the investigation progresses.
