Bengaluru — A senior accountant at Karnataka’s Accountant General Office was arrested on Wednesday after allegedly accepting a ₹13,000 cash bribe in an operation coordinated by the state Lokayukta, officials said.
According to the Lokayukta’s anti‑corruption cell, the officer, identified as Shashank Kumar, was approached by a “dummy” petitioner who claimed to need assistance in obtaining a government‑issued certificate. The petitioner offered the cash as a “facilitation fee.” Kumar accepted the money, after which the Lokayukta team recorded the transaction on video and seized the cash.
